I’ve come to the sad realization that Advertising, like many if not all industries, still plays into traditional gender roles. Walk into any agency, and I can almost promise you that the account side will be flooded with nurturing, persuasive women who are constantly trying to get the kids on the client side and creative side to stop running around like chickens with their heads cut off, and learn to play nice or at least sit in separate corners of the playroom for a while, sucking on lollipops. The creative side, however, is most likely a glorified man-cave. Gruff no-shave November writers, graphic designers, and creative directors who run the show. They probably spend more time talking about sports and making sexist jokes than actually creating something for a campaign.
I’ve never so much as stepped foot into the office of Leo & Clarkson, or even heard of them until today, when I saw their atrocious Lifetime Network rebrand. So perhaps these agency gender roles don’t apply in their office. But if I were to assume anything from their Lifetime rebranding, it would be that the creative side had a conversation something like this:
“Bitches, man. Why are they always so crazy when they get their periods?”
“Yeah man, even crazier than usual.”
“They all just grab a tub of ice cream, watch Lifetime, and cry.”
“That’s it! “Lifetime: The network for that time in your life.”
“Life. Time. Your life. Your time.”
“Of the month! Bahaha. That’s genius. It will really put those bitches in their place.”
“Oh, and to top it off, we’ll make the logo look like a giant red circle, with a see-through pad floating in it.”
“Gross, man.”
“Nah, we can finagle it to look like some zen bubbly “L.” Those yoga-loving bitches will eat that crap up.”
*female account person walks by*
*CD clears throat* “Perfect. Now mock that up. I think this was our best creative concept yet. So spot-on for our target audience.”
Adidas Billboard
I’m not a fan of sports, but it doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate a good ad when I see it. Coolest billboard I’ve seen in a long time, and it’s sure to catch the attention of any passerby, and maybe even gain a few new soccer fans. Not sure the Adidas brand will stick in their minds from this ad alone though, unless they get stuck in traffic.

I love seeing creative ads like these on delivery trucks. Usually they block the billboards in city traffic, so they might as well have cool ads on them as well!
Brilliant Buenos Aires Zoo adv - Mükemmel Buenos Aires Hayvanat bahçesi reklamı
LOVE THIS. I wish zoos in America would consider advertising like this. I don’t know much about saving endangered species, but obviously this ad is meant to bring awareness to people like me. Maybe they could even donate $7 of the purchase of the stuffed animal to save a real one?
Even though I’d feel bad if my dog fell for this, it is a great example of branding.

Pond’s Facial Scrub Billboard
As gross as this billboard image might come across, it’s still incredibly brilliant advertising.
